Former Cardinals infielder Brendan Ryan, 29, is close to a two-year contract extension with Seattle.
According to the Associated Press, the contract will pay Ryan $1 million in 2011 and $1.75 million in 2012. Ryan made $425,000 with St. Louis in 2010. So he'll be getting a nice raise and some security while the Mariners are getting a pretty good deal on a very handy infield glove man.
This is the first off-season that Ryan was eligible for arbitration thanks to the amount of time he spent riding back and forth on the Memphis shuttle early in his career.
