Cardinals outfielder Lance Berkman, who has struggled with a sore throwing elbow, has been scratched from the team's Thursday Grapefruit League game, according to the Cardinals.
What's with all the muscle strains the St. Louis players have been suffering from early in this spring training season? Chris Carpenter has a hamstring strain, Mitchell Boggs strained his back and now this?
I guess some of it can be written off to getting back into the swing of things after a long winter layoff. But we all heard about how hard Berkman was working over the off-season to lose weight and be in better shape to play the outfield. So why is he breaking down under the early spring workload?
I hope it's not a cover for keeping him out of games with a more serious elbow problem.
