The Cardinals will momentarily lock horns with the Mets in a spring training tilt.
Pitching for St. Louis is Jaime Garcia. The Mets will counter with embattled lefty Oliver Perez who could be on the brink of being released.
Perez has totally hit the skids after signing an absurdly huge deal with the Mets two years ago. He makes $12 million this year, the last of the three-year, $36 million deal. Meanwhile, he's posted a 3-9 record with a 6.81 record after inking the deal.
The Mets have apparently completely lost patience with Perez, according to the New York Post. So he may soon be in the starting pitching dumster should the Cardinals take a dive after losing Adam Wainwright to Tommy John surgery.
