Apparently, the Cardinals have graciously decided to share their spring training bad luck with the Central Division rival Brewers.
Milwaukee has announced that its ace, Zack Greinke, acquired over the winter from Kansas City, has a cracked rib and that he will likely miss a month and a half.
According to an ESPN report, Greinke broke a rib playing basketball before spring training games started. He's made two appearances despite rib cage pain, allowing six hits and a run in 3 1/3 innings.
The Brewers think the loss will be minimalized by the fact that they'll only need a fifth starter about three times during the time their new ace is out of action. But, as Cardinals fans were reminded last season, it's not as much about finding five warm bodies to populate the rotation as it to get high quality starts from the guys who take the hill.

It will help the other teams in the NL Central a great deal to have to face the Brew Crew's 2nd through fifth starters repeatedly without worrying about taking on the ace.
