Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter, Daniel Descalso and Allen Craig each collected a pair of hits, racking up eight hits and six runs in four innings against Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman. Ryan Theriot was unable to join in on the fun, however, notching another hitless day in three at bats to drop his spring batting average to .154.
Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia, who has struggled something awful so far this spring, was somewhat better Friday. He allowed two runs on five hits in four innings pitched. He walked a pair and struck out one.
