The Cardinals say that slugger Matt Holliday, who starred on opening day with the team's first runner batted in and its first homer of the 2011 season, is going to miss the next two weeks or so.
Holliday complained during the home opener of pain in his side. Afterward he was examined and it was determined that his appendix is to blame and it's going to have to come out.
The Cardinals haven't announced yet how they'll fill Holliday's roster spot. But they seem to have plenty of outfielders to go around with Jon Jay and Allen Craig already on the bench. Infielder Tyler Greene also spent some time during spring training playing in the outfield.
