The Cardinals have announced that manager Tony La Russa won't be on the bench when the club takes on the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Although specific details about how long the skipper will be out or what was found were not released, the move comes in the wake of La Russa visiting the Mayo Clinic for an examination of the eye infection that has bothered him for more than a month.
It's a pretty scary situation to have an infection that lingers on like that. I hope for the manager's sake that the doctor's just told him to get some rest and take his medicine... Not that he has endangered his life for the sake of managing a few ballgames.
