On this date 49 years ago Stan Musial broke the National League record for RBIs when he knocked in a pair of runs against the Dodgers.
The performance put him at 1,862 ribbies for his career. Stan the Man would raise the bar to 1,951 by the time he retired at the end of the 1963 season.
Henry Aaron eventually passed Bonds to assume the National League record. Barry Bonds, with the help of his little performance enhancing friend, reached 1996 to push Stan to third on the NL list where he currently sits.
The active NL leader in RBIs is Atlanta's Chipper Jones with 1,537.
