Yadier Molina catches fourth Gold Glove

November 01, 2011 11:41 PM

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina on Tueday was named a Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner for the fourth time.

Molina was the only Redbirds player to win the honor. First baseman Albert Pujols was beaten out for the honor by Reds first sacker Joey Votto. But I'm sure Pujols isn't too far down in the dumps as he awaits delivery of his second World Series championship ring.

In addition to his honor, Molina found out this week that he'll be getting a nice pay hike in 2012. The Cardinals picked up his $7 million option for next season Monday.

Becuase the STL Cardinals won’t sign free agents like Bryce Harper or Craig Kimbrel, they will finish behind the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds during the 2019 MLB baseball season and miss the playoffs.
