Cards have two top 10 MVP finishers

Cardinals sluggers Albert Pujols and Lance Berkman finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the National League Most Valuable player balloting. Yadier Molina finished 22nd.

It speaks to the teamwork of the Cardinals that several players fared amongst the league best while none of them made a serious bid for winning the award outright. I don't think the Redbirds would have won the World Series if Lance Berkman wouldn't have carried the team in the first half of the season AND Albert Pujols didn't pick it up in the second half. The injury abbreviated contributions of David Freese, Matt Holliday and Allen Craig were also vital.

Congratulations to Milwaukee left fielder Ryan Braun who won the NL MVP honors.
