Former Cardinals General Manager Walt Jocketty believes the Rangers -- not his former club -- will be the team that eventually lands free agent starting pitcher Roy Oswalt.
But reports out of Dallas indicate that the Rangers don't want a sixth starting rotation candidate. And, unless one of the existing five starters gets hurt or traded, Texas seems like a likely landing spot for Oswalt.
Meanwhile, heads are being scratched over the Redbirds' signing of reliever Scott Linebrink. The club has previously tried to trade very similar relief pitcher Kyle McClellan. So, unless the Birds are thinking about a trade involving pitching, why overstock the cupboard with another similar player?
