Matt Adams hits a grand slam vs. Mets

Cardinals first base prospect Matt Adams got the attention of the Cardinals coaching staff Tuesday when he belted a two-out grand slam against the Mets.

The blast came in the seventh inning against New York pitcher Jeurys Familia, a highly-touted Mets prospect who has racked up triple-digit strikeout figures over the last three years.

Jake Westbrook started the game for St. Louis and threw two scoreless frames. He gave up one hit and two walks while whiffing two Mets hitters.

Maikel Cleto relieved and gave up three runs on two hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings. Scott Linebrink cleaned up the mess with one hit and no runs allowed in an inning and a third.
