Matt Adams, Jaime Garcia shine for Cards Thursday

Cardinals starting pitcher threw a sharp pair of innings Thursday and first baseman Matt Adams hit a bases loaded triple against the Red Sox at Roger Dean Stadium.

Garcia allowed no hits or walks and struck out four against Boston in his two frames. Eduardo Sanchez, who is trying to come back from a shoulder injury that derailed his 2011 season, also threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He walked two but allowed no hits.

Adams' blow came in the sixth inning on a line drive to centerfield. Playing first base on Thursday, Adams has a .417 batting average through three spring games.
