The Rockies have claimed former Cardinals farmhand Adam Ottavino who was placed on waivers after failing to make the major league club in spring training.
The 2006 first round draft choice never really found his potential in professional baseball. He started his career well in the low minors. But as he reached Class AA Springfield he began to struggle and never really straightened out. He was 3-7 with a 5.23 ERA in 2008 in Class AA. In 2009 he lost his first nine decisions and finished the year with a 7-12 record and a 4.75 ERA.
He made his major league debut in 2010 and is 0-2 with an 8.46 ERA with 37 hits and nine walks allowed in 22 1/3 innings in the big leagues. He's spent the bulk of the last three seasons in Class where he was 19-23 with a 4.68 ERA in 62 appearances.
