According to a CBS report, the Cardinals "arent' close" on setting a timetable for Chris Carpenter to return to action.
Apparently, the St. Louis ace hasn't been able to calm the nerve irritation in his neck and pitching shoulder enough to resume throwing. Last we heard, Carp was working to strengthen his shoulder and GM John Mozeliak said he expected the process to take about three weeks. When that was done, Mozeliak said, Carpenter would start to throw with the goal to be pitching with the Redbirds again sometime in May.
The CBS report speculates that the Cardinals might be becoming more interested in former Astros hurler Roy Oswalt who remains un-signed after turning down offers from the Rangers and Cardinals because they weren't rich enough.
