Add Matt Carpenter to the list of wounded Cardinals.
The versatile St. Louis bench rookie hit a double in the first inning Tuesday night against the Padres and as he eased up at second base he grabbed his side.

Carpenter was expected to play a huge part in trying to fill the hole at first base created by injuries to Lance Berkman and Allen Craig. But he started the Tuesday game at third base in place of the badly slumping David Freese.
