In their push to keep up with the Cardinals in the injury department -- if not the standings -- the Brewers have placed catcher Jonathan LuCroy on the disabled list with a broken hand.
According to the club, LuCroy suffered the injury while he was reaching under his hotel bed for a lost sock. At the same time, his wife moved a suitcase which fell on the Milwaukee receiver's hand, crushing it.
Lucroy currently leads the major leagues with a .514 average with runners in scoring position.
It hurts our team a lot," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "He feels really bad. LuCroy was certainly very important to what we are doing."
