The Cardinals just can't get the injury bug out of their system.
On the verge of getting Jon Jay and Allen Craig back from the disabled list, Fox Sports Midwest reported Wednesday that Jay is getting a second opinion about his shoulder -- and starting pitcher Jaime Garcia will miss a start thanks to a sore elbow.
That's not good news on either front.
Jay's shoulder problem has lingered on far too long for it not to be considered a serious problem and a threat to the whole season. A "second opinion" seems like it means either that one doctor has recommended surgery and Jay is trying to avoid it -- or that one doctor says he can't find anything wrong with Jay's shoulder but the outfielder still is experiencing pain or weakness.

And a breaking ball pitcher like Garcia needs a sound elbow to be effective. The southpaw has had ligament replacement surgery in his pitching elbow already in his career. So, hopefully, this isn't something serious.
