The Braves have released pitcher Livan Hernandez.
The 175-game winner isn't having a great season with a 4.94 ERA as a reliever with Atlanta. But, given his experience and his low risk,. high reward position, might the Cardinals be wise to try to bring Hernandez on board?
For a pro-rated version of the major league minimum salary, the Redbirds might be able to add the veteran presence to the bullpen and give them an insurance policy for the starting rotation.
On the other hand, Hernandez has allowed more than 1.5 baserunners per inning and managed to strike out only four hitters so far this season.
