Cubs DFA Belleville native Randy Wells

Belleville native Randy Wells has been designated for assignment by the Cubs.

Wells, a Belleville East High School graduate, is 1-3 this season with a 5.34 ERA in 12 games, four of them starts. A 29 year old, Wells is 28-32 for his career with a 4.08 ERA. He's appeared in 98 major league games with Chicago and the Toronto Blue Jays, 86 of them starts. His best season came in 2009 when Wells was 12-10 with a 3.05 ERA.

I wonder if the Cardinals could use a local guy who could pitch out of the bullpen and provide some depth for the rotation.
