Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras was unanimously named the most valuable player of the Class AA Texas League All Star Game Thursday in Tulsa, Okla.
His monster two run homer in the fourth was the deciding blow in a 3-1 win for the North squad. Taveras had three hits in the game.
Overall, Taveras is hitting .323 with 15 homers and 51 RBIs for Class AA Springfield. He's doubled 22 times, tripled four times and has stolen six bases without being caught.
Springfield second sacker Kolten Wong also played in the game and had a hit in two at bats. Wong is batting .297 with 7 homers and 32 RBI for the season.
