The Cardinals have announced that they will call up top pitching prospect Shelby Miller to bolster their major league roster.
Miller, who was terrible for the first three-quarters of the season as he struggled to find consistency, was brilliant down the stretch to earn the call-up.
There was no explanation of what the Cardinals plan to do with Miller, either inserting him into the starting rotation perhaps in place of Joe Kelly or placing him into a crowded bullpen picture.
Joining Miller are Adron Chambers who provided some speed and depth to the Cardinals last season during their September run and Sam Freeman who worked with the major league team earlier this year.
