I'm getting ready to head to Busch Stadium for what I hope will be the clinching game for the second National League wildcard playoff berth.
But mostly I am excited about getting to see Chris Carpenter pitch in person for the first time I 2012.
Not only is Carpenter one of my all-time favorite Redbirds. But he's a huge boost to the Cardinals' playoff fortunes. And I am eager to see how he handles a potential post season foe. If anybody can pitch the Birds out of their season-long doldrums, it's the big righty.
Besides, I want to pay my respect with a hearty round of applause. If we learned anything this year it's that our ballplaying Heroes are fragile and you never really know when it's going to be your last chance to watch them play.
