Best wishes to the family of St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday.
The slugging Redbirds' mother underwent cancer surgery Thursday in St. Louis after the Cardinals made arrangements to have her brought to St. Louis for treatment.
It's tough enough coping with the high pressure of the baseball post season. Dealing with it while a loved one's life is in the balance must be infinitely worse.
It's amazing that Holliday, who has struggled in RBI situations during the 2012 playoffs, had a breakout game on the day of his mom's surgery. Maybe his mind was put at ease somewhat because he felt his mother was in good hands. Or, even better, maybe the surgery went flawlessly well.
Get well soon, Mrs. Holliday.
