Although they've managed to pull within one game of first place in the National League Central Division race, the St. Louis Cardinals seem to have exhausted their minor league depth.
Randal Grichuk, who has been shuffled back and forth between Class AAA Memphis and the parent club, has one hit in his last 15 at-bats. His average, once well over .300, has dwindled down to .272. Grichuk's lone hit was a home run. But he's had trouble making contact lately with nine strikeouts in those 15 at bats.
Fellow outfielder Stephen Piscotty has three hits in last 16 at-bats and two RBIs over that span.
Marco Gonzales, who was promoted from Class AA Springfield to St. Louis when Michael Wacha's shoulder injury flared up, didn't do so well in his Class AAA debut Friday night against New Orleans.
