Former St. Louis Cardinals farmhand Ryan Jackson has been cut loose by the Kansas City Royals.
Jackson, 26, was drafted by the Redbirds in 2009 and played in 20 big league games for St. Louis in 2012 and 2013. He was claimed off waivers in November 2013 by the Houston Astros and then was traded to the San Diego Padres less than a month later. In November 2014 Jackson was plucked from the waiver wire by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Less than a month after that he was sold to the Royals.
Kansas City moved Jackson off its 40-man roster to make room for newly signed pitcher Edinson Volquez.
