Clinton County Fair opens Monday in Carlyle

Gentlemen, start you engines — and crash!

That’s what you can expect for the big finale to the Clinton County Fair, which runs Sunday through July 18 at the fairgrounds in Carlyle.

There will be plenty of fun for the whole family, from livestock and produce judging to a parade, contests to arena shows, a queen pageant to the demolition derby. Concessions, vendors and carnival rides and games and the Exhibition Building will be open at 5:30 p.m. Monday through July 18. Parking is $3 per day or $12 for a week pass. Here are some of the highlights:

Sunday

11 a.m. Antique tractor pull (free admission)

Noon Washer tournament

Monday

6 p.m. Parade with the theme “The Great Outdoors”; followed by an exhibition by The Beat School of Dance

8:30 p.m. Cow milking contest

Tuesday

7 p.m. Truck pull. Admission: $10 adult; $5 6-12; free younger than 6; pit pass, $20.

Wednesday

6 p.m. Family Fun Night presented by Clinton County 4-H

7 p.m. FFA pedal pull

7-10 p.m. L8R Dayz band

July 16

7 p.m. ITPA & IHFS Pull. Admission: $10 adult; $5 6-12; free younger than 6; pit pass, $20.

July 17

7 p.m. Clinton County Tractor Pull. Admission $7 adults; $3 6-1212; free younger than 6; pit pass, $20.

8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Music by Ultraviolet

July 18

2 p.m. Queen Pageant at Mater Dei High School in Breese. Admission: $7 adults; $3 6-12; free younger than 6

6:30 p.m. Power Wheels Demo, Auto Cross and Demolition Derby. Admission: $12 adults; $6 6-12; free younger than 6.
