Mascoutah pulls out all the stops for homecoming
It will take four days to hold the 88th annual Mascoutah Homecoming und Augustfest this year at Scheve Park with its two parades, three truck and tractor pulls, livestock exhibits, contests and live music.
Parades: The theme is Heroes, so get ready to applaud those who serve us. Parades step off at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from the Leu Civic Center on North Market, south to Main Street, west on Main Street to Sixth Street, north on Sixth to Scheve Park. You can expect floats, marching bands, clowns and lots of candy-tossing.
Pulls: Three pulls start at 7 p.m. in the arena. On Friday, it’s a truck pull. Saturday is a tractor pull with plow and weights. The heavyweights come out for the diesel smoker tractor pull on Sunday.
Headliner bands: Hillbilly Authority will take the stage from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, Rough Ryders perform from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and The Jorrells wrap things up from 7 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
All profits will be reinvested in Mascoutah parks and the community.
