Dramatic interpretation of the Passion Play, complete with choir, orchestra, live animals and a cast of more than 300 volunteers. A love offering will be taken. Information: 618-397-5994. - German Good Friday Service — 10 a.m. Friday, Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wartburg, 5765 Maeystown Road, Waterloo. Good Friday worship service in the German language to celebrating the 175th year of its founding. The congregation was founded in 1841. Ladies Aid will serve a potluck luncheon after the service at 11 a.m. Free will offering taken for the meal.
- 5K/10K Group Walk — 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, 1 Lewis & Clark Trail, Hartford. Register at 9 a.m. $3 fee per participant. Bring water.
- Spring comes to Fort de Chartres — 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Fort de Chartres State Historic Site, Prairie du Rocher. Jardin Potager Weekend. Jardin portager means vegetable garden or kitchen garden, which produced food that was critically important to the French soldiers and settlers in the 1700s. See how the garden was arranged and tended. Visitors will receive free heirloom seeds. On Saturday, a volunteer will demonstrate the process of turning sap from maple trees into sugar.
- Old-fashioned Quilting Bee — 1-9 p.m. Monday; 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, quilting room at St. George Community Life Center, 317 E. Maple St., New Baden. Attendance prizes. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Monday. Refreshments and desserts will be served Tuesday. Sponsored by the St. George Ladies Sodality and Christian Mother’s Club and Quilt Committee. Quilts will be used at the Quilt & Cash Bingo at the St. George Picnic on Aug. 13.
- 5K/10K Group Walk — 10 a.m. Tuesday,CMT YMCA, 1 Town Center Drive, Maryville. Register at 9:45 a.m. $3 fee for participants. Stroll the bike trail to Drost Park. 10K walkers will venture into town and return to the YMCA. Bring water.

Awards ceremony, 7 p.m. Students present artwork including paint, photography, clay, mixed media, graphite, charcoal, more. Art on display through April 7.

- Empty Bowl Soup Luncheon — 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, 1910 West Belle St., Belleville. Attendees pay $10 to dine on 20 soups donated by participating restaurants and organizations. The first 200 will receive a hand-painted ceramic bowl. Desserts and drinks will be available. The soups include tomato bisque from Crehan’s Irish Pub; New England corn chowder from Hospice of Southern Illinois; Italian gnocchi soup from The Abbey and chicken and dumpling from Eckert’s Restaurant.
