Report: Steve Burton accuses ex-wife of ‘parental alienation’

General Hospital star Steve Burton reportedly accused his ex-wife, Sheree Gustin, of allegedly interfering in his relationship with their children.

Burton, 55, accused Gustin, 49, of “blatant parental alienation” in new court documents obtained by TMZ. The soap star claimed that Gustin frequently puts up obstacles and creates conflict regarding their custody arrangement of 11-year-old daughter Brooklyn. (Burton and Gustin also share adult children Makena and Jack.)

Burton further alleged that Gustin seemingly disapproves of his marriage to Michelle Lundstrom, whom the actor married in 2025, and that Gustin reportedly refuses “acknowledge Michelle’s role as my wife.”

Burton and Gustin were married from 1999 and split in 2022, during which they welcomed their three children.

Gustin has not publicly addressed the parental alienation allegations. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.

TMZ further reported that Gustin denied Burton’s accusations, noting that she didn’t want her daughter to be away from home for more than three weeks and that she’s flexible when it comes to coparenting.

Burton and Gustin finalized their divorce in 2023, agreeing to share joint legal and physical custody. He also agreed to pay Gustin $12,500 per month in child support through April 2024, after which payments dropped to $10,000 monthly.

The exes amended their custody agreement in January before returning to court. Burton claimed in a May filing obtained by Us Weeklythat Guston “systematically refused to honor” the settlement that granted him regular summer visits and two weeks of vacation with Brooklyn.

“This is manipulation. You signed an order. So the response should have been, ‘Hey brook your dad has you a lot in the summer’ … but I know your priority is not having her spend time with us,” Burton wrote in a text to Gustin on March 14, 2026, per the filing. “Activities do not trump time with family … again this is something that you signed and you decided to neglect that and now put it on Brook … and now you get to say dad won’t let you … when you should have said it’s not gonna work. So now you’ll be able to say you made a mistake and we should schedule my weeks.”

Gustin subsequently denied the manipulation accusations in a text response, writing, “No it’s not. I told you she wanted to do jr. guards. You knew this.”

Gustin also shares two younger daughters with her current husband, Jason Amador.
