What qualifies you for this position?
“I served as alderman of the seventh ward from 2009-’13. I’ve played an active role in many projects. One project was helping to convert a dangerous alley into a one-way alley. I also got the McKinley Ave. project extended past original plans. I fought for McClintock Ave improvements and traffic controls in The Green Mount Manor subdivision. The Belleville Dog Park and Tour de Belleville were also projects that I had leadership roles in. These projects do not cost the city, but in fact help provide funds for the city. I started seven Neighborhood Watch Groups and active in local school safety.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“• Seeing our police department increase the number of officers on the street especially in the neighborhoods where problems already exist. By using existing and new funding resources, this can be accomplished.
“• Improve the condition of some of our dilapidated streets. If Tax Increment Funds can be used, the worst streets need to be given a higher priority.
“• Getting a new occupant for the empty Wal-Mart building on Carlyle Ave. Since the city does not have an economic developer, we need assistance from St Clair County to work together on this area. When the city hires an economic developer, this vacant property needs to be a priority.”
