Mark Sauerwein is a life-long resident of Belleville. He is married to his wife Linda, and they have two children. Mark, Linda and their oldest daughter Lexi are all graduates of BTHS 201 and their youngest Ana is a junior at Belleville West. After graduating with a BSBA with a specialization in finance from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Mark has worked in the banking industry for over 25 years and is currently president of South County Region for Central Bank of St. Louis. He has responsibilities in both Illinois and Missouri. His wife, Linda, is a 25-plus year teacher in Belleville School District 118. They are active members of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

Mark’s concentration in banking has been on large and small commercial lending. This focus has allowed Mark the opportunity to understand the financial nuances of different types of companies and industries, including non-for-profits. This experience (along with living with a teacher for over 25 years) allows Mark the opportunity to work hard for the long-term success of Belleville School District 201 and the school district’s strongest assets — their students and teachers.
