Two flown to hospital following head-on collision in Millstadt

Two people were flown to the hospital following a head-on collision Wednesday night near Millstadt.

First responders were called to the area of Douglas Road and Floraville Road just after 6 p.m. for a two-car accident, Chief Kurt Pellman of the Millstadt Fire Department said.

The driver of a Cadillac, 32-year-old Daniel F. Ward, of Cadet, Missouri, was traveling westbound on Douglas Road when he swerved for unknown reasons and crashed into an eastbound Buick, driven by 54-year-old Bradley J. Smith, of Smithton, a news release from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department stated.

Crews extricated both men from the scene, Pellman said. Both were taken to nearby hospitals for their injuries.

Ward was found to be driving on a revoked driver’s license, the release stated. The sheriff’s department continued to investigate the accident on Thursday.
