The early taste of fall that has settled over the metro-east this week will continue - at least for a few more days.
The high Wednesday will be 79 under sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. That’s eight degrees cooler than the average high for late August in the St. Louis metropolitan area, 87.
It will be mostly clear Wednesday night with the low dropping to 55.
The mercury will begin a slow creep back up Thursday when the high will be 81 under sunny skies. It will be clear with a low of 59 Thursday night.

On Friday the high will be 84 and skies will be mostly sunny.
A 20 percent chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast for Friday night when the low will be 66.
The extended forecast calls for a high of 85 Saturday with a 30 percent chance of rain during the day and a 20 percent chances of rain in the evening with a low of 66.
It will be mostly sunny Sunday with a high of 87. Skies will be partly cloudy with a low of 66 Sunday night.
