Things to do Monday: Pearl Harbor ceremony; make a wreath
WE WILL NEVER FORGET: The St. Clair County Historical Society will present a ceremony to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, at 11:55 a.m. Monday at Messinger Cemetery in Belleville. The cemetery, at 3450 Old Collinsville Road, contains what is thought to be the oldest Pearl Harbor monument in the United States. It was dedicated in June 1942 by George Hoffman, a local man whose son survived the attacks. The program will consists of readings, color guard, displays and laying of wreaths at the monument.
MAKE A WREATH: A professional florist will lead a workshop to help people make wreaths out of natural materials at 7 p.m. Monday at The Nature Institute, 23313 S. Levis Lane in Godfrey. Cost of $40 includes all supplies, students get a wreath to take home. For information, call 618-466-9930.
