SIUE’s Harvey competes in NCAA Championships
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men’s track and field junior Julian Harvey heads to the NCAA Championships at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, to compete in the men’s long jump.
Harvey, an Edwardsville High School graduate, will compete at 8 p.m. CDT Wednesday. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN3 beginning at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
After qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminaries in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump, Harvey earned his place in the NCAA Championships by placing ninth in the long jump.
Harvey is currently ranked ninth nationally in the long jump, posting a mark of 25 feet, 11.5 inches at the Arkansas Spring Invitational March 25. The nation’s leader in the long jump is Stefan Brits of Florida State with a mark of 26-11.75.
His personal best performances and the date it was set are:

▪ High Jump: 6-10.75 (4/25/15)
▪ Long Jump: 24-10.5 (4/12/14)
▪ Triple Jump: 49-3.5 (5/3/14)
Harvey is majoring in kinesiology.
In high school with the Edwardsville Tigers, Harvey was an All-State performer in both the high jump and triple jump during his senior season.
