LU- Belleville reveals rugged 2016 schedule
Lindenwood University-Belleville women’s soccer head coach Kelly Prince has announced Friday the Lady Lynx’ 2016 schedule.
LU-Belleville is coming off an impressive 2015 season which saw them set a program record 11 wins, while its eight American Midwest Conference (AMC) victories are its highest since joining in 2014.
The Lady Lynx entered the 2015 AMC Tournament as the No. 5 seed and were able to pick up an upset 1-0 victory over No. 4-seeded William Woods on a goal by Kathryn Blomenkamp with just .49 seconds remaining in regulation.
The team would advance onto the AMC Semifinals and square off against No. 1-seeded Columbia College. Despite its efforts, the Cougars ran away from the Lady Lynx and went on for the 6-0 win.
LU-Belleville will look to build off last year’s success as they’ll get its season under way with a couple of scrimmages against St. Louis Community College on Aug. 20 and Greenville College on Aug. 25.
The regular season will kickoff on Aug. 30 as the team hits the road to Bethel University. From there, the Lady Lynx return for a four-game home stand starting on Sept. 2 against LSU-Alexandria.
They’ll host Central Methodist on Sept. 4, Missouri Valley on Sept. 7 and will close out its fourth straight home game against AMC foe Freed-Hardeman University on Sept. 13.
Four of the teams’ next five games will be on the road while its lone home game will be on Sept. 21 against William Woods University.
The Lady Lynx will host two key AMC games on Oct. 8 and Oct. 12 as they’ll welcome Hannibal-LaGrange and reigning AMC Champion Columbia College.
After a visit to Park University on Oct. 15, the team will play three of its final four games in front of the home crowd. On Oct. 18 they’ll play St. Louis College of Pharmacy, while on Oct. 22, which is also Homecoming Day, the team squares off against Central Baptist College.
The team will head to St. Louis, Missouri on Oct. 25 to face Missouri Baptist University and they’ll close out the regular season on Oct. 29 against Harris-Stowe State and that’ll also be Senior Day.
