BOOK SIGNING: The Chick-fil-A restaurant, 2532 Green Mount Commons in Belleville, will host a book-signing for author Dale VanBlair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Dale, 94, is a World War II veteran and regular customer. His book, “Looking Back: A Tail Gunner’s View of WWII” can be purchased, or people can bring copies for VanBlair to sign.

SUMMER CAMP: TreeHouse Wildlife Center, 23956 Green Acres Road in Dow, invites children to watch wildlife rehabbers treat sick, injured and orphaned animals and learn about the relationship between humans, wildlife and nature at two-day camps. They will be held July 6-7 for ages 6 to 8, July 20-21 for ages 9 to 12 and Aug. 3-4 and Aug. 10-11 for ages 13 to 15. Registration required; space limited. For more information, call 618-466-2990.

YMCA BASH AND DASH: The YMCA, 424 Lebanon Ave. in Belleville, will hold a Back-to-School Bash & Dash with a 5K run/walk, 1/2-mile Fun Run for small children, games, giveaways, a D.J., photo booth and attendance prizes on Aug. 6. The bash is free. Registration for the dash costs $25 for the 5K and $10 for the Fun Run through July 24 ($20 and $15 July 25 through Aug. 6).

POP-CULTURE CELEBRATION: Barnes & Noble in Fairview Heights invites the public to a celebration called “Get Pop-Cultured” through the month of July with more than 20 activities based on pop-culture icons. TRADITIONAL COUNTRY: The Caseyville-based Traditional Country Music Foundation will sponsor a fundraising concert to help save “The Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree,” a Nashville radio show that’s been on the air since 1947 (it has run into financial problems). The concert will begin at 2 p.m. July 12 at the American Legion Hall, 1022 Vandalia in Collinsville. It will include tributes to country music legends such as Ray Price, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Ernest Tubb (by his nephew, Glenn), Hank Williams Sr. and Willie Nelson, as well as performances by The Legends, Night Ryders, Ross Key and Bill White.
