Rare Dolphin Looks Exactly Like 'Venom' and the Reason Is Too Cool
There are an estimated 700,000 to 2 million animal species said to exist in the ocean, with more than 90% of them reportedly undiscovered and/or unknown. It's nearly impossible to fathom exactly what new and interesting creatures live out there-unless you come face-to-face with one, which makes our "small" world feel that much more vast.
One such unique sea find is a rare dolphin whose "killer" smile makes this large mammal look just like Spider-Man's archenemy, Venom. Read on to learn why experts say this is one animal whose looks are deceiving!
Unfortunately for these menacing-looking dolphins trying to pull one over on unsuspecting divers or fishermen, their docile, entertaining, and free-spirited personalities-often showing off their jumping skills for the masses-give them away. They may have the face and head shape of a terrifying villain, but they're quite the opposite!
Other cool facts about these dolphins include:
- The mothers nurse babies for up to two years while teaching them how to "dolphin."
- They eat up to 5% of their bodyweight each day, usually consisting of fish and squid.
- They hunt in pods and share food, because sharing is caring!
- They live in tropical waters all over the world, but are difficult to track.
- They're so elusive that researchers still don't know everything about them.
If you're lucky enough to spot one of these in the wild, buy a lottery ticket because you're one of the luckiest people in the world!
