'Apex' Dominates Netflix Top 10 For Second Week In a Row

There's no shortage of new films on Netflix at any given time, but the sheer quantity of content can sometimes make it difficult for any individual movie to dominate the platform's Top 10 rankings for a considerable amount of time.

Apex, however, has overcome those odds. Directed by Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, the film stars Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton as a grieving woman and a bloodthirsty serial killer, who enter a deadly game of cat-and-mouse in the dangerous woodlands.

The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, currently sitting at 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. But none of these criticisms have prevented Apex from dominating Netflix's viewership charts over the past few weeks.

According to Netflix, the film collected 40.2 million views since its release just over two weeks ago on April 24, 2026. It is now the most-watched English-language movie on the platform in that period, and the best-performing movie of May so far.

Those 40.2 million views also account for repeat watches, which surely counts in Apex's favor. The high-octane, fast-paced story comes in at just 95 minutes, meaning that audiences can watch it over and over again without getting bored.

Additionally, Apex features a brilliant soundtrack that fans are repeatedly coming back to. The song "Go" by The Chemical Brothers plays a large role in the story, and that track has recently been climbing its way up the Spotify Viral 50 over the past two weeks.

Apex is clearly becoming somewhat of a pop culture juggernaut, and fans can expect its Netflix dominance to last a while longer yet.

That being said, the film does have strong competition on the viewership charts. The animated film Swapped has accumulated 15.5 million views since its release, hot on the tails of Apex at the No. 2 spot. The movie scored the biggest three-day opening for a Netflix animated film since Leo in 2023.

Netflix's shark-infested survival movie Thrash has also performed well, pulling in 4.3 million views since its release last month. While neither of these movies has quite dethroned Apex on the charts, they continue to prove that it's facing strong competition.
