Exchange Club honors students

The Exchange Club of Belleville recently awarded $6,500 in scholarships at its annual Youth of the Year Banquet on March 10 at Fischer’s Restaurant in Belleville. Parents, teachers and club members watched the area’s top high school seniors get their awards. Nicholas Ernst of Belleville West High School and Kaitlyn Redman of Governor French Academy were selected as Youth of the Year from eight students who had been named Youth of the Month. Both received $1,000 scholarships. The following received $500 scholarships for being selected as Youth of the Month: Stone Allen, Jessica Knee and Jessica Tetzner, all of Belleville East; Kara Candler of Governor French; and Bailey Guinn and Madison Largen of Belleville West. Receiving $500 scholarships for the Accepting the Challenge Award (for overcoming physical or social handicaps) were: Kerry Dessalines of Belleville East; Kimberly Greenwald of Governor French; and Lance Osborn of Belleville West.
