Collinsville Woman’s Club art contest winners

Twelve Collinsville High School art students are winners of the 2016 Collinsville Woman’s Club Art Contest.

For more than 50 years, the club has sponsored the contest, recognizing budding, young artists at Collinsville High School, said Annette Graebe, art chairperson.

Art was judged in four categories, beginning art, drawing, painting, and traditional and digital photography.

Names of the 2016 winners are: In Beginning Art, Zoe Cope (1st Place), Hector Alcazar (2nd), and Edgar Acevedo (3rd). In Drawing, Avery Pollard (1st Place), Kaia Cosgriff (2nd), and Jiliann Smith (3rd). In Painting, Gabby Morgan (1st Place), Mary Stewart (2nd), and Jewleah Heck (3rd). Winners in Photography were Tory Appel (1st Place in Traditional Photography) and Tori Barrett (1st Place in Digital Photography). Rachel Harrison was awarded Best of Show.

Students received certificates, ribbons and cash prizes.

The Collinsville Woman’s Club Art Program was recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) District 22 Convention.
