Hett’s 2016-17 Season

McKendree University in Lebanon has announced the 2016-17 season for its McKendree Presents Series, Distinguished Speaker Series, McKendree University Series and Film Art Series at Hettenhausen Center for the Arts, a 488-seat theater on campus. Tickets for reserved seating will go on sale at noon Sept. 6 for the general public and noon June 27 for Friends of the Hett. To see a complete schedule, visit www.thehett.com. All events are open to the public. Ticket prices for most range from $5 to $26 with discounts available for senior citizens and students. Admission is free for movies in the Film Art Series. Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will sponsor blood drives at the following times and locations:

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Millennium Room, 340 W. Lincoln, Belleville.

3-6 p.m. Wednesday at Bank of Springfield, 1770 Frank Scott Parkway East, O’Fallon.

4-7 p.m. Thursday at Schuette’s Market, 1100 Broadway, Highland.

1-4 p.m. Friday at Midwest Members Credit Union, 101 Wesley Boulevard, Wood River.

4-7 p.m. Friday at Schuette’s Market, 571 12th St., Carlyle.

3-6 p.m. June 27 at Bel-Air Bowl, 200 South Belt West, Belleville.

10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 27 at Scott Credit Union, 101 Credit Union Way, Edwardsville.

Cardinals Blood Drive

The public is being asked to step up to the plate and donate at the St. Louis Cardinals Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Public Safety Building, 285 Safety Building in O’Fallon. Historical Research Workshop

Edwardsville Public Library will host a free workshop on how to research the history of old buildings at 7 p.m. Monday at Edwardsville Public Library. Presenter Cindy Reinhardt is a local historian who has been researching and writing histories of Edwardsville homes and other buildings for many years. For more information, call 618-692-7556.

Prayer Service

The congregation of Calvary Lutheran Church, 6606 W. Main St., Belleville, stands in solidarity with the people of Orlando. On Wednesday, at 7 p.m. we will hold a prayer service to pray for comfort for the families and friends of those whose lives were lost in the senseless massacre at Pulse nightclub. We will also pray for the end of the hate and violence aimed at the LGBTQ community. Light refreshments will follow.

Grief Support Sessions

Green Mount Catholic Cemetery is offering grief support sessions once a month for those who have lost loved ones. The next session will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the cemetery chapel. For more information, call 618-234-4858.
