Locally owned eateries celebrate with discounts during Collinsville Restaurant Week

A metro-east tourism bureau is celebrating Leap Year by sponsoring the first Collinsville Restaurant Week, beginning Friday and running through March 8.

Seven locally owned and operated restaurants will offer specials, according to a news release from Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau, formerly Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau, which has expanded its coverage south in recent years.

Restaurants will offer lunch specials for $10 and dinner specials of $25 or two for $25.

“This is an exciting time for the culinary scene in Collinsville,” Great Rivers President and CEO Brett Stawar stated in the release. “More and more locally owned and operated restaurants are finding a home in the city. What better way to highlight the fresh dining options available than with Collinsville Restaurant Week?”

Participating restaurants include Carisilos Mexican Restaurant, Fazzi’s Bar & Grill, Friday’s South, Mungo’s Italian Eatery, Old Herald Brewery & Distillery, Sloan’s Pub House and The Sandwich Shop Diner.

Great Rivers is billing Collinsville Restaurant Week as an opportunity not only for residents and visitors to explore new dining options, but also to show support for local businesses.

“Each restaurant taking part has worked hard to put together a menu showcasing their specialties while also providing diners with a distinct culinary experience,” Stawar stated. “No one will leave disappointed.”
