Belleville ice cream shop announces it will close for the season earlier than usual
White Cottage in Belleville has announced that its season will end a few weeks early. An Aug. 24 post on the ice cream shop’s Facebook page stated that the early closure was due to lack of staffing and the last day would be Sunday, Sept. 5.
Owner Chris Cordie said the decision to close early was for a mix of reasons, mainly that they started to lose employees who were leaving for school.
“We lost a lot of people in different ways,” said Cordie, who added that they had applicants he intended to call. But by the time he could hire and train them, it would have been time to close for the season.
Located at 102 Lebanon Ave. in Belleville, family-owned White Cottage is currently open for its 74th season. In addition to its various ice cream creations, their menu includes sandwiches, burgers and sides.
Current hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Sunday. For information or to place an order, call 618-234-1120 or visit whitecottageicecream.com.
