A national chain is hoping to open a new restaurant in Belleville. Here is what we know
Belleville’s Planning Commission is scheduled to review and consider site plans for a new Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers location.
The restaurant is listed as a new business item on the agenda for the committee’s Wednesday meeting.
Earlier this year there was talk of the franchise coming to Belleville.
In response to a inquiry sent to the Freddy’s corporate office, Kim Huynh, a public relations specialist for Freddy’s, said: “We have secured a site in Belleville at Belleville Crossing that we hope to open within the next couple of years but don’t have a formal development timeline to share quite yet.”
Plans for the restaurant include the construction of an approximate 3,238 square-foot building with drive-thru and outdoor dining area on a 40,361 square-foot lot. It would be located at just east of Buffalo Wild Wings at the Belleville Crossing Shopping Center off of Illinois 15.
Additional details about the plans were not immediately available.
Wichita, Kansas-based Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers was co-founded in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon and friend and business partner Scott Redler, according to itswebsite. The restaurant is named after the Simon brothers’ father, Freddy Simon, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 2020.
Area locations include restaurants at 3320 Green Mount Crossing in Shiloh, 301 N. Bluff Road in Collinsville, and 2204 Troy Road in Edwardsville.
