Jet’s Pizza at 5200 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights opens Monday, Dec. 13.

A quick phone call to the Michigan-based pizza franchise confirmed that Monday is the big day.

Jet’s Pizza specializes in Detroit-style pizza, which is, according to their website, a deep-dish pie with a “light airy center, loaded with toppings, surrounded with carmelized cheese and a crispy, square golden crust that is baked to perfection.”

Each pizza is baked in their signature thick steel pan. The Jet’s website states that these pans are “made only for Jet’s Pizza, inspired by the Motor City and still made in Metro-Detroit.”

If Detroit-style isn’t your jam, Jet’s also offers New York-style, hand-tossed, thin, seasoned cauliflower and gluten-free crust options. Sandwiches, wings and salads are also on the menu.

Jet’s Pizza was founded in 1978 by Eugene Jetts, according to the company’s website. Jetts was getting ready to purchase a new home and instead signed a lease for a space that became the first Jet’s location.

Jet’s Pizza Fairview Heights is located at 5200 N. Illinois St. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. For more information about Jet’s Pizza or to place an order, call 618-892-9900 or visit jetspizza.com.
