Self-serve beer taps, restaurant, games - all in 1 place - may be coming soon to O’Fallon
The City of O’Fallon is one council meeting away from bringing a new place for good times to the community.
Dogwood Social House, where – according to the website – “fun, food, family and friends come together” - may soon take up residence in the former Gold’s Gym at 1206 Central Park Drive.
Dogwood Social, which already has three Missouri locations, provides family-friendly games and activities that include bowling, mini golf, arcade games, simulator games, table games and axe throwing (look out!).
The facility will include a full restaurant and bar.
In an application submitted to the city in November by Dogwood Social owner Andy Patel, the 4.5-acre site with its roughly 40,495-square foot building would be redeveloped to accommodate the facility.
The building has been vacant since October 2019, when Gold’s Gym closed. Most of the proposed redevelopment would involve “complete renovation of the building interior,” according to the application.
Updates to the building exterior include repainting the walls, landscaping and installing signage.
Patel also proposed self-serve beer taps. These would be controlled with activation cards given to customers 21 and over that have provided ID.
Also proposed is a 3,670-square foot independent liquor store inside the building. The store would have an “exterior entrance and a single locked interior door” for staff use, the application states.
Plans could also include a patio area, which is tentatively set for the northwest side of the building but is not yet designed. If a patio is proposed at a later date, the owner must ensure that potential impact to the property’s drainage are considered.
The Planning Commission recommended that the facility’s occupancy be limited to 855 persons, basing the decision on the number of existing parking spaces.
Proposed hours of operation for the new facility are 3 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends. The liquor store hours would be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
The ordinance for Dogwood Social goes before the O’Fallon City Council Monday, Feb. 7. If passed, Dogwood Social will open later this year.
