Belleville may be getting a new Irish pub in a historic building on West Main Street
It looks like Belleville is getting a new Irish pub this year (yay!).
And it will be located in a gorgeous, historic 1860s building (double yay!) at 1112 W. Main St.
The property is owned by G Level and Squared, Inc., otherwise known as Greg Partelow and Glen McElligott, who applied for a special use permit for a liquor license and outdoor dining at the Main Street location.
Belleville City Council approved the request during its meeting Monday night.
Reporter Mike Koziatek spoke to Partelow after the meeting.
Partelow told my colleague that they plan to have an Irish-themed bar and restaurant called The Harp Pub.
They hope to have access to a strip of city-owned land east of the building (the corner of South 11th and West Main streets) for an outdoor dining patio built with pavers.
While the permit for a liquor license and outdoor dining have been approved by the council, there are no formal plans yet in place for the development, according to Cliff Cross, director of Economic Development, Planning & Zoning.
Cross believes they will start to see new cases for the site plans in the coming weeks.
In a quick phone call with both Partelow and McElligott, I was told that the architect for the project is a little behind schedule and still working on the site plans.
They said they’d keep me posted.
I definitely plan to keep tabs on this one and will share what I learn with you.
As for the time frame for the project, Partelow thinks they’ll be ready this fall. His partner is hoping for summer (fingers crossed!).
Either way, we’ll have to wait a bit for that first round of Guinness. And when that time comes: Sláinte!
