These St. Louis chefs, restaurant named semifinalists for prestigious James Beard awards
Six St. Louis-area chefs and one restaurant have been named semifinalists in the James Beard Foundation’s 2022 Restaurant and Chef Awards.
The Foundation posted a list of all semifinalists on its website Wednesday and included the following area chefs and venues:
Emerging Chef: Ben Grupe, Tempus, 4370 Manchester Ave., St. Louis
Outstanding Pastry Chef: Elise Mensing, Brasserie by Niche, 4580 Laclede Ave., St. Louis
Outstanding Wine Program: Vicia, 4260 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis
Outstanding Bar Program: Vicia, St. Louis
Best Chef - Midwest: Rob Connoley, Bulrush, 3307 Washington Ave., St. Louis
Best Chef - Midwest: Craig Rivard, Little Fox, 2800 Shenandoah Ave., St. Louis
Best Chef - Midwest: Evy Swoboda, Brasserie by Niche, St. Louis
Best Chef - Midwest: Ben Welch, Botanica, 2490 Taylor Road, Wildwood, Missouri

The winners will be honored at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, June 13.
